Since none of the online summaries are very detailed, a more detailed summary up to Will's canon point has been included below.
The Dark is Rising
Will grew up in a small English country village in the 1970s. Most of his childhood was unremarkable, apart from being the youngest of nine children. Perhaps he was a little quieter and more thoughtful than other children his age, but even that was not entirely unusual.
That all changed on his eleventh birthday, when he awoke to his true heritage. Walking out of his house, Will stepped into a time five centuries before his own birth. There, he first encountered the Black Rider, as well as a man named Merriman and an old woman known only as the Lady. From Merriman, Will began to learn of his true his heritage. He was told that he was not properly human, as he had always believed himself to be, but that instead he was the last born of the Old Ones of the LIght. And he learned that because of that he had a gift, and he had a duty that could not be refused. He was bound by his very nature to fight against the Dark. They told Will that with his awakening they knew that the time of the last great battle against the Dark was drawing near.
Will returned to his own time, knowing that his first quest would be to reunite six signs of power that had been created for the Light over the ages. Over the week of Christmas Will sought out the six signs and reunited them while fighting against the obstacles created by the Black Rider and the Dark. He completed the learning of his powers and began to come into an understanding of what he was. With the signs reunited, Will called forth Herne the Hunter and the Wild Hunt to chase the Dark to the edges of the Earth.
Greenwitch
The next summer Will traveled to Cornwall. There he assisted Merriman and three human children in the recovery of a stolen Grail and a lost manuscript. Will and Merriman used the artifacts to decipher a coded prophecy in Ogam on the side of the Grail.
The Grey King
Only a few months later Will became desperately ill with hepatitis. He lived, but in his fever he lost all memory of ever being anything more than human. He forgot his magic and his duties. Will was left with only the certainty that he had forgotten something that was terribly important and a single phrase. "On the day of the dead, when the year too dies."
On the advice of his doctor, Will's family send him to Wales to stay with an old friend of his mother's as he recuperates.
Personality:
On the surface Will is an entirely normal boy from the English countryside. He is quiet, polite and cheerful, with a wry sense of humor. He can be distant and vague around people he does not know well, but Will often teases his family and friends with mock pompousness and a straight face. Will loves all the socializing and craziness that comes from being the youngest in a very large family.
Will is inclined to scholarly pursuits, particularly history and languages. He has a keen interest in things like folklore and ceremonies. He reads Medieval herbal treatises for fun, and claims to be mad for anthropology.
There are times when Will simply knows things. When to act and what to say. He knows things about plants and animals and stars and people. He often acts more like an adult than a child. For example, he has a way of avoiding fights with other boys his age by removing himself from the argument and being annoyingly reasonable. He has a way, also, of sliding into an argument and fixing a problem diplomatically without ever bringing attention to himself. Other characters often remark there is something subtly reassuring and practical about Will. He hardly ever gets upset about anything. And he can be rather cryptic and philosophical at times. After some comments about religion, a local priest once remarked that he wasn't sure whether Will should be ordained or exorcised.
All of these oddities are caused by the fact that Will has another, much deeper, side to his character. In truth, Will belongs to a group of metaphysical beings who call themselves Old Ones of the Light. He was the last to be born and the one with the closest ties to humanity still. And although the Light is good and noble, it is also cold and pragmatic. Old Ones are concerned with the great battle against the Dark, fighting so that humans can have the chance to make their own choices. But Old Ones themselves do not have a choice about their own destiny. Once they come into their power they are bound to serve the interests of the Light. If they are required to sacrifice a few individuals for the greater good, they will do it. For Old Ones, duty comes first. Always.
For Will, who still has ties to his human family and human emotions, the demands of being an Old One can be hard. And this is Will's greatest conflict. He cares deeply for his family and friends, but a part of him is always aware that the bigger picture must come first.
Because of this conflict between his human and Old One sides, Will can sometimes behave in very different ways. One moment he may be cheerfully teasing his brothers, and the next he'll be sagely dispensing advice with the wisdom of an old man. But both sides are the same Will.
At his current canon point, Will has forgotten what he is. He believes himself to be nothing more than a human boy. But at a deeper level, he is aware that something has gone very wrong. He's sure that he has forgotten something terribly important, that there is something he is meant to be doing. This feeling is a constant worry, and he has no idea what to do about it.
Appearance:
Will is very unremarkable in appearance. He is slightly short for his age, with longish brown hair that often falls into his eyes. His eyes are grey. He is round faced and cheerful in expression, but prone to solemn moments. He wears typical clothing for a country boy from the 1970s. Jeans and sweaters and a battered sheepskin coat. Much of his clothing has been passed down from his five older brothers. He has a large burn scar on the inside of his right arm which is shaped like a circle with a cross inside it.
Abilities:
Will is an Old One, a member of a race of magical beings created from one of two main polarizing magical forces of the Universe. Old Ones are of the Light and they are bound in an eternal battle against the forces of the Dark. The Light seeks to defend humanities right to free will, while the Dark seeks to create a world where humanity is not even aware that there is anything more than war and hatred to aspire to.
Old Ones claim to be very much like humans. They are born into human families, and live as humans do. In appearance there is no obvious difference. But in mind and soul and purpose, they are something very different.
As an Old One, Will has access to a wide variety of powers.
Time
Old Ones either exist outside of time or are only very loosely connected to the flow of time. Because of this, Will can walk in and out of different times as he wills, and if he walks into a new time everyone there will remember him as always having been there. He is also unaffected by time paradoxes. Since this can be gamebreaking, I will assume that he will be losing this ability in game.
Visions
Will sometimes has visions of other times. This happens either by walking into a space where time is overlapping or by touching an object and willing himself to see its history.
Control of Time
Will can stop time for the people around him or put a single person outside of time for a moment.
Mind
Mindspeaking
Will can speak into the minds of other Old Ones. He can also share mental images in this way.
Memory
Will has an excellent memory. It is mentioned that the mind of an Old One is the safest place to leave important information, for it can never be truly forgotten.
Sensing
Will can sense the presence of other agents of the Light and Dark. He feels the Light as music and the Dark as a whirling uncomfortably disorienting feeling.
Magic
The Old Speech
All Old Ones instinctively know how to speak this language. In Will's world, all creatures of magic can speak and understand it as well.
Will speaks and understands all the languages of men.
Will uses the Old Speech to cast spells. Some spells can be cast with only a single word and gesture, while others are more complicated.
Spells to control fire and water, sea and sky.
Spells to use the abilities of different animals. To ride the wind like an eagle, to run like a deer and to swim like a fish.
Spells using the symbolism of different plants and animals. For example, hanging mistletoe to prevent people with evil intentions from entering a house.
Spells to identify and destroy the magic of the Dark
Spells of protection
Spells to temporarily acquire skills like horse riding and music
Will cannot cast spells over running water or heal using magic. It is also mentioned that there are certain things like instant transportation or seeing visions of the future that he is not capable of yet.
Immortality
Will cannot die. Even if he becomes badly injured, he would be unable to die. However he is not invulnerable. He is as easy to injure as any human and has no healing ability.

Suitability:
Will should have no trouble adjusting to life in Aifaran. As a character who is accustomed to being sent off on errands to other times and places on no notice, at first he is likely to think that is just another quest to complete.
In Aifaran, he will likely involved himself in short term slice of life plots, as well as any large plots dealing with magic or with mind altering. In the short term, his focus will be on recovering his lost memories.

Since the test drive thread ended up being from a later canon point than I ended up choosing, a second sample has been included below.
Will shoves his hands deep in his coat pockets as he trudges through the streets of Aifaran, feeling desperately homesick. At home, it would have been getting cold by now, as the winter approached. But the climate here was different. It was just one more thing that made Buckinghamshire feel so terribly far away. For a moment Will thinks wistfully of a proper thick blanket such as often fell after Christmas at home. He'd always loved the way deep snow transformed the world and made everything look fresh and new.
This world wasn't a terrible place, but it wasn't home.
There were a lot of things that Will wasn't quite sure about right now. But he was quite certain that he was lost. Maybe more lost than he had ever been before. And if he was already lost, how was he to find the thing that he had forgotten? It was important. He was sure of it. But how could he find it here, when all the clues he had led to a place in another world?
And it wasn't just that he didn't know this place, that it was in a world that wasn't his own.
It was more like... It felt wrong. All out of place. Or maybe he was the one that felt wrong. At home, and even in Wales, he'd always had this feeling of familiarity, like the trees and the hills and the very stones of the mountains were old friends. Like it was a place that he knew, even when he'd never been there before.
But here, in this place... "It is like the world is in a different shape now," Will says slowly. He wonders at his own words. What made him say that? And why did it seem like a familiar thought?
